Read on for our Social Media Magician, Michaela's, social media tips:
1. Learn and map out as much as you can about your audience.
Create a persona giving them as much detail as you can. Only then will you be able to know who your audience is and who is most likely to engage with you.

You need to know your audience like the back of your hand. This is one of the very first steps when onboarding your client or creating a brand. Try to characterise everything about your audience, the finer the details the more insight you have to market effectively. It's important to know what your audience reads and at what time. What do they do on the weekends? Where do they work? Do they have children or prefer to have fur babies until they are more established in their career? Ask what platforms they would use more frequently than others. Questions like this could go on forever - and they should. The more you know the better! However, it is a good idea to do this at the very beginning when you, or your client, is excited and willing to extract as much information as possible.

Do as much insight research as you can before doing any of your branding and marketing. You need to build your brand in the right direction from the very beginning otherwise you may fall short and not obtain any KPIs.

2. Plan your content a month or two in advance.
Content is communication and communication is king! Take pride in your work and be strategic. You want to make sure your audience can relate to you and that you can celebrate with them. So before every content plan that you create, it is important to know what you are going to be talking about, when, and why. Always have important dates like holidays, events, or announcements mapped out before creating content. There are 100's of templates on Canva that can help with some easy designs and apps like UNUM can help to aesthetically curate your Instagram grid.
3. Video content will most likely always get more engagement than a still image.
Shorter videos will always do better but longer videos can hold more value if done correctly, therefore making your brand more memorable.

With the infinite scroll, your content needs to stand out. You want to stop people in their tracks and make them feel something. If you can evoke some sense of emotion with your content you are already doing more than other brands. Remember, we live in a saturated world with billions of people who have short attention spans. You have 3 seconds to draw in your audience and get them to engage. This is why video holds power over images!
4. Solve your audience's problem.
Don't tell your audience what you can do for them, tell your audience how their problems can be solved by you. Your audience does not care how great you think you are, they rather make that judgment on their own. It's always best to outline how you can add value to your customers' lives but don't forget to proactively give value. No one likes empty promises.
5. Work slowly and strategically.
Working backward sometimes helps you to go forward.

There's so much that goes into marketing, especially social media marketing. Don't magnify one element for too long, because you may fall short in other areas. It's important to manage your time effectively between all marketing components. Step back and remember to always get more than one person's opinion.
